Frequently Asked questions

What menu will I receive for my event?

Once your booking is confirmed, your Private Chef will design a menu tailored to your tastes, dietary requirements, and the style of your occasion. No set menus, no copy-paste — it’s personalised from the start. You’ll be able to review the menu and request tweaks so it feels spot on for your group.

Can I choose a specific chef for my event?

After confirmation, our matching system considers your preferences and availability to match you with the most suitable chefs in your area. Where possible, we’ll send through chef profiles for you to choose from. During peak dates or last-minute bookings, a chef may be assigned to ensure your event is fully supported — and we’ll keep matching until you’re happy.

How does booking a Personal Chef work?

Book online and you’ll receive a booking confirmation with next steps. You’ll then complete a short form covering your dietary needs, preferences, and event details. From there, we match you with the right chef, and your chef creates a personalised menu for your approval before the day.

Do you have chefs available for my event?

Yes — we maintain a strong network of fully vetted chefs across Australia. If we can’t secure a chef for your confirmed date (rare, but possible), we’ll provide a full refund so you’re never left hanging.

What do I need to prepare for my event?

Please clear 1–2 fridge shelves and some bench space, then give your chef a quick walkthrough of the kitchen and dining area on arrival. If your booking doesn’t include service staff, you’ll need to provide and set out your own plates, glassware, cutlery, and servingware.

What time does the chef arrive on the day?

Your chef will arrive around 1.5 hours before your scheduled mealtime with the ingredients and will start prep straight away. If you’ve booked waitstaff or bartenders, they’ll arrive separately. After service, the team will clean the kitchen and work area, leaving it tidy so you can keep enjoying your night.

What is a Typical Chinese Banquet?

A typical Chinese banquet is a grand affair, often featuring an 8 to 10-course meal that follows a traditional sequence. It usually begins with cold dishes, followed by a soup, and includes a variety of seafood, poultry, and meat dishes as mains, such as prawns, lobster, steamed fish, and a whole chicken. Vegetables and rice or noodles are also part of the menu, with dessert concluding the meal. The banquet showcases a range of cooking techniques, including stir-frying, steaming, and braising, and emphasizes a balance of flavors and colors. This dining experience is not only about the food but also about celebrating cultural traditions and creating memorable moments with loved ones.
