Oregano

Oregano, is without a doubt, one of the most commonly used herbs in the world. It is popular across different cultures and used as a flavouring and seasoning agent in different dishes. Today, it is widely grown in Turkey as well as several the Middle East and Mediterranean countries. Even though there are different varieties of oregano, what you mostly get in stores today are mostly Greek oregano or Mexican oregano.

Oregano has a strong and bold flavour that cannot be missed when added in any dish. It is often used along with garlic, as well as vinegar or lemon. It can be used fresh or dried. When fresh, they can use either whole or chopped into fine pieces. When dried, it is mostly used in ground form. In Italy, even the buds are used for cooking, right before they start flowering.

Oregano is commonly used in pizza as a flavouring agent. However, it has plenty of other uses too. for instance, it is added to all kinds of meat and vegetable dishes, cheese-based foods, pasta sauces, salad dressings and many more. The best way to get the most out of oregano is to release the flavour by crushing it with your hands before adding it to dishes.
