When it comes to private events, we do ask the hosts to provide all the necessary equipment. That means that the chefs can show up and get straight to work without having to bring along all their bits and bobs. That said, in some cases you might be asked to bring some equipment of your own.
The best way to know for sure whether you’ll be required to bring any of your own equipment is to do a briefing with the host a good while before the event. Ask them what is available in the kitchen, what facilities are there for you to make use of, and identify any gaps in what you might need. Then you can bring along any missing items that are crucial for you to pull off a great meal (e.g. bottle openers, shakers, serving trays, etc.).
