Our commitment

CHEFIN’ is committed to facilitating the best and safest private catering experiences for both private chefs and event hosts / customers. To this end, CHEFIN’ has implemented an appropriate insurance policy, summarised herein.

The purpose of this insurance policy is to ensure CHEFIN’s stated commitment to the protection of chefs and hosts is met and consistently maintained. It also provides you with the confidence to perform your cooking and catering services as part of an event booked on the CHEFIN’ platform.

Chefs are covered by a $10 million insurance policy placed by AIG Australia Limited for all private dining events booked via CHEFIN’.

  • CHEFIN’ insurance is provided by AIG Australia Limited, protecting Australians for more than 50 years.
  • Terms and Conditions apply. Only for CHEFIN’ processed events. Excess applies for CHEFIN’ Chefs.

While injury or property damage during a private dining event is unlikely, we recognise the importance of protection and peace of mind for Chefs and Customers. We have worked very closely with AIG to provide all CHEFIN’ Chefs with public liability insurance that covers them for up to $10,000,000 for third party property damage and/or personal injury claims against them for all bookings and events through the CHEFIN’ platform.

In the event of a claim:

Similar to paying an ‘excess’, a deductible amount of AUD 1,000 applies to each claim. This is the amount borne by you in the event of an action being brought against you.

What is not covered

The CHEFIN’ Insurance Policy covers the independent contractor registered on CHEFIN’ for their liability for third party personal or property damage whilst performing included activities during a CHEFIN’ event booking. The policy does not cover first person personal injury or property damage for the Chef, and therefore should not be considered a replacement for other types of insurance such as workers compensation or salary protection.

As with all insurance policies, CHEFIN’ Insurance contains exclusions.

A CHEFIN’ Chef must be registered on CHEFIN’ to be covered by the insurance policy. The event must also have been processed and paid in full on the CHEFIN’ platform for the policy to be valid.
